Friday Night Services

Please join us for our monthly, in person (and Livestream) Friday Night Services. Our typical Friday night service is traditional and very spirited with some wonderful old and new melodies for both Kabbalat Shabbat (welcoming the Shabbat) and Maariv (the evening service.) Service time varies throughout the seasons. Please click HERE for dates and details.

First Fridays Our First Friday program is a very popular monthly event, with a traditional service at 6pm, followed by a delicious, wholesome Shabbat dinner with an invited speaker to share on a diverse range of topics during the meal.  RSVPs required for these dinners.  See our events calendar for upcoming speakers.

Fourth Friday A wonderful, fun, interactive program geared to young families, but all are welcome!  At 5.15pm, we have a short, lively service with singing, dancing and a story, followed by a “family style” Shabbat dinner at approximately 6pm.  These events have been very popular and there is always a lovely Shabbat atmosphere.  RSVPs required for the dinners. Please note, there is no later service on these days.

The Basement – Contemplative Friday Nights, followed by soup!  Do you enjoy quiet space and singing niggunim in community?  Look out for these special, alternative Shabbat prayer experiences, approximately once every two months.  The service is based on the structure of a traditional Friday night service, but with many fewer words and soulful, wordless melodies, along with space to sit, mediate and reflect as we let go of the week.  Drums are usually played in these services.  Following the contemplative service, we share Kiddush and enjoy challah and delicious home-made soup and other goodies.  Please note these gatherings are not at Bonai Shalom, but in Rabbi Marc’s house.

Musical Friday Nights Did you know that Bonai Shalom has its own Shabbat band?  During the summer months, we have a monthly musical Kabbalat Shabbat service with guitars, drums, mandolin, flute and beautiful, soulful singing.  Typically, these services are followed by a potluck Shabbat dinner by the creek.

Have a listen to the music from our services on our Music Page.
